The literal meaning of DAKINI is SKYDANCER. The Western forms of Dakini are ANGELS. These Angels are free from fixed attitudes and arouse us out of our fear and shame and steer us on the path of truth. Dakini’s have no fear of the things and people that limit us. Their divine femininity is Feisty beyond limitation. Put your trust in her, give her your worries and pain and she will show you the way to a better future. The most famous Dakini is Yeshe Tsogyel, the 8th century Indian Tantric Practitioner Her most remarkable event was her rape by four vagabonds as she traveled through the beautiful countryside. What should have been a wonderful time in her life could have been spoilt by their actions. Yeshe did not react the way other women would have, instead she sang to her rapist and thanked them for yet another of life’s many experiences. This made her a more empathic person and showed that it is possible to reclaim our power from those who abuse us, then use this power to make us stronger, rounder and more caring human beings. It is because of her strengths that I work through her with Dakini Reiki.
YESHE TSOGYEL WHO ARE THE DAKINIS?Dakinis can manifest on earth in human form or take birth as human. These are then called “worldly Dakinis”. Dharma Dakinis are devoted to a higher purpose and there actions are generally positive. But it is hard to generalize since they aim to break our fixation on concrete thoughts and use their powers to arouse us out of our habits and steer us on a path of truth. These messengers who go between our earthly realm and the higher realm bring us powerful teachings and blessings to sincere seekers. Dakinis do the most compassionate things possible for our wellbeing before moving out of our life and along to the next seeker. They help us through our hopes and visions for the future and invite us to follow their path of truth. But although we can be greatly inspired by a Dakini, they will only come back if we put into action what they have shown us. A Dakinis love is always unswerving and compassionate. It does not matter whether we wait a few moments or a lifetime to put their inspiration into practice. She is the feminine manifestation of Divine Wisdom. Standing in the realm of wisdom she is naked to the world. She has no shame and her realization is fearless. The things, people and places that we fear do not limit her. As the divine feminine she is feisty and beyond limitation. Put your trust in her, and give her your worries, give her your pain and she will show you the way to a better future. The most famous of the Dakinis is Yeshe Tsogyel. She lived in the eighth century and was one of the main consorts of the great Indian guru and Tantric practitioner Padmasambhava. She became an important teacher in her own right and finally realized full enlightenment. Her most remarkable achievement was her reaction to her rape by four vagabonds she met while traveling. She did not react to her abuse in the way most women would, and it is because of this that I work through her with my Dakini Reiki© Healing Energy. Yeshe shows a most remarkable example of the use of sex for the benefit of others when she initiates the rapists who successfully abuse her. Much wisdom for us all can be extracted from the song she sings to them. She shows what great power the Dakini possesses over them, and in there dependence on her, how their need can be used for their own good. Iona G.M.
